Dans ma maison il y a...un oiseau en hiver

This is my project - I thought the birds might like to be inside their little house! I used a distress ink background, white embossed with snowflake stamps from Provo Craft, and some white distress crackle paint on the roof and edges. The birds in the bottlecaps are from Digital Collage Sheets.

Created Byhand Challenge - flourishes

Can't pass up a chance to try a challenge with flourishes, one of my favorite things! This is a clear card and has white StazOn stamped flourishes surrounding a heart-shaped piece of acetate colored with alcohol ink. The stamp is from Stampington. It's hard to tell with the photo, but the folded cardstock portion of the card is attached inside the acetate card.

Dans ma maison il y a... du blanc

This is the first time I have tried this challenge - I find a house shape very appealing and was excited that the theme was white. For my project I wanted a shabby chic look which I think was helped by Ranger's crackle paint in Picket Fence. I used it on the corrugated cardboard base shape and on the metal roof embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The white embossed flourish on the background paper is a stamp from Green Pepper Press and the image is from Lunagirl.

Crazy Amigo's Splash Challenge

This is the first time I tried this challenge, because when I saw the theme I knew which image I wanted to use. It's from Enchanted Mercantile and made me think of a group of friends making a splash in 1909! The image is mounted on paper inked with distress ink and then flicked with water. I added a white embossed swirl stamp from Prima. The swirls on the backing cardstock are from a Cuttlebug folder - it just seemed to complete the wavy, watery look.

Art Creations Friday Challenge

This was such a beautiful background this week! I love how it changed as I added more layers of stamping to it- especially the subtle gold from the Inka stamps background stamp sequin waste. Other stamp credits are Stampers Anonymous and Prima, and the image is from Enchanted Mercantile.

Stamping on copper

Here's another project using metal - this time copper sheeting. I found a roll while I was wandering around Home Depot when my husband was shopping. Amazing how much fun you can have there! It's thin enough that after stamping with StazOn it can be easily cut or punched. These pictures are of my star book and the one inside page picture features a stamp from The Queen's Dresser Drawers.

Stamping on metal

This is one of my favorites- it uses StazOn ink on metal. For the surrounding frame, after embossing it I applied alcohol ink and then used a sanding block and a brass brush to remove it from the embossed areas. To create the actual embossing, I stamped on the reverse of the metal using my current favorite swirl stamp from Stampers Anonymous and used that as my template for embossing. The main image stamp is from Oxford Impressions - you lose some of the photographic detail by stamping on the metal, but I still love the overall look.

My family

Metzger - the baby of the family

A clear album

I have really come to enjoy thinking about how to compose a design on clear acrylic. This is an album using Prima's Build A Book line that I created. I love that you work on both sides and also can get an overall overlap from one page to the next. This album used vintage photos of my family which was also fun, even though I certainly love working with adopted ancestors! I used Prima's Build A Frame stamps with black StazOn on some pages, a fabulous swirl stamp from Stampers Anonymous using white StazOn on one page, and of course a page with alcohol ink. By using double sided printed paper you automatically have a beautiful base to start working with on the back side. Even though the album didn't place in Prima's Build A Book contest, it's still pretty cool, don't you think?
