Compendium of Curiosities #11

I have made a collage for this week's Compendium of Curiosities Challenge based around the tag featuring this week's technique of Blended Batik. My local RSS just got in new 7 Gypsies paper from the Conservatory line that I wanted to play with - wonderful, vintage naturalist feel to it. I combined it with more 7 Gypsies paper and a Paper Whimsy girl. Stamp used on the tag: Stampers Anonymous.

Collage Coterie class

I'm back at work honing my collage skills again! Mary Green of Green Paper has another class called Collage Coterie where she's teaching more collage techniques and using more than just paper, glue, and scissors. Just thought I'd share some of the ATC's I've made for the class so far.

Gingersnap Creations - Paint Challenge

This is a canvas using a multitude of techniques with acrylic paint that I've learned from Claudine Hellmuth's class. The techniques include stamping with paint, photo tinting with paint, embossed and debossed paper highlighted with paint, paint with perfect pearls accents, image transfer with paint, faux batik using multi medium for stamping, and a patterned paper transfer with sticky back canvas. Whew! This was a fun piece to create, and I added some Paper Whimsy images, Dresden foil, 7 Gypsies gaffer tape around the edges, and stamped words to embellish my squares. This project fits well with the current Spicy Supply Challenge at Gingersnap Creations where the theme is paint. Stamp credits: Hero Arts, Making Memories, Purple Onion Designs, Close to my Heart

Compendium of Curiosities #10

Week 10 over at Linda's Compendium of Curiosities Challenge and this week it's Distress Stickles. My tag has flowers made from sticky back canvas with a patterned paper transfer onto it that I cut out using the tattered florals die and shaped into dimensional flowers. I added Stickles to the petals and also to the chipboard swirls, and if you look very carefully, you can see little dots of Stickles accenting the stamped scalloped border on the bottom. Tag Tuesday - not on paper

This week's challenge at Tag Tuesday is to make a tag using something other than paper. Mine is comprised of sticky back canvas, ribbon, lace, rick-rack, and buttons. My background canvas is a fun Claudine Hellmuth technique called faux batik where first you stamp with multi-medium, heat dry, then paint over the surface and the multi-medium acts as a resist. Stamps: Stampington & Co., Making Memories, and Stampin' Up!.

Gothic Arches - Back to School

The theme at Gothic Arches is "Back to School" and here's my collage for the challenge. The little girl is an Oxford Impressions photo stamp from the School Days set and the door image is from a Paper Whimsy collage sheet.

Compendium of Curiosities #9

It's up to week #9 for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge and this week it's Distress Crackle. My piece uses Maya Road chipboard pieces and colored Distress Crackle Paint, as well as the metallic version, and the clear Rock Candy version. I have to confess to a love/hate relationship with the Distress Crackle paints - sometimes they give me the look I'm going for, but not always. I have inked over all the pieces here to accent the crackles and I think that helps a bit.

Thought I'd share a fun little house made with sticky-back canvas printed with pics of my furry kids. This was a project made in an online class with Claudine Hellmuth.

Sunday Postcard Art

"Houses" is this week's theme at Sunday Postcard Art and here is my postcard with microscope slide houses using a Paper Whimsy collage sheet for the house images and some of the Tim Holtz ornate corners for each roof.

Lots To Do - Ribbons and Lace

I know I'm late with this week's Lots To Do Challenge, so I'm hoping to squeeze this one in before the new challenge starts. I made a cool background for this skinny by spraying Glimmer Mists through a piece of lace - a beautiful (and simple!) technique from the latest Technique Junkies newsletter. I also created a lace dress for my Paper Whimsy girl and gave her a ribbon sash.

Compendium of Curiosities #8

The challenge this week at Compendium of Curiosities is to ink grungeboard and grungepaper. I created this in a Wendy Vecchi style using a grungeboard base and grungepaper flowers. Distress inks used are Bundled Sage on the base and Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey and Barn Door for the flowers. The grungeboard swirl is inked with gold ink. Stamps used : B-Line Designs (ticking background), Hero Arts (text) and Stampin' Up! (dots).

Sunday Postcard Art

Patchwork is the theme this week at Sunday Postcard Art and I created a random patchwork background out of random scraps of canvas using some techniques by Claudine Hellmuth I've been learning. I have paper transferred onto sticky back canvas, embossed canvas highlighted with paint, faux batik, and of course just some plain canvas I've stamped. Stamps: Stampington & Co., Making Memories, and a pencil eraser!
