Sunday Postcard Art - Butterflies

I loved this theme on Sunday Postcard Art and it gave me a chance to play with a cool stamp from Crafty Individuals. Other stamps used in the background are from River City Rubber Works, Paperbag Studios, Technique Tuesday, and Your Maine Stamper-my local stamp store.

Folded Circle Book

OK, so in my last post I mentioned that I really like the distress resist stamping technique... Here's what I did with variations of the background paper I made learning the technique. This folded circle book is inspired by a french blog I saw a long time ago (and can no longer remember-sorry) and is made from 4 circles and assembled to fold up. I added clear acetate tags stamped with white StazOn to hold my collage images - and the really cool thing about the stability of the acetate is that if you place them in the center, the book holds it shape - how cool is that! It's so much fun to do some blog browsing and idea gathering and be so inspired - thank you to Jennifer McGuire for the great video demonstration (and for sharing what she's learned).

Paperbag Studio contest cards

There's a contest going on over on the blog for Paperbag Studios for projects made with their stamps. See the details and leave a comment on this post here to enter. My cards combine a couple of their stamps and also use a couple of the writing stamps stamped over a background using watercolor paper and distress inks and the distress ink resist stamping technique. There's a great video done by Jennifer McGuire to demonstrate the technique here - it's one of my new favorite background techniques!

Art Creations Friday challenge

This fun image is from the challenge this week at Art Creations Friday.
I used 2 stamps from Oxford Impressions and played around with stamping on cork.

Make a Moo or Two Challenge

I thought the small size of a moo card would be a fun challenge this week for me, so here are two for the quote challenge.
My tiny fairy images are from Lisa's Altered Art.

Theme Thursday Challenge - famous faces

The challenge at Theme Thursday is famous faces, and in looking through my various collage sheets I found a vellum one from Altered Pages with this image of Bach. So I put on my CD of the unaccompanied cello suites and was inspired to create this collage while enjoying the soothing music. The flourish is a digital one from Paperbag Studios that I printed out, cut and sprayed with glimmer mist - I really like that look, and the flourish shape kind of evokes a g-clef, don't you think?

Saturday's Workout

It truly was a challenge to do this week's Saturday Workout Challenge! First, I don't know german, so I used a google translator to help understand the technique of a muslin bandage background, then I didn't have any gauze to use and worked with cheesecloth instead. I also had difficulties keeping it stuck down onto the paper. I liked Hermine's comment about using a spray adhesive to attach it, but didn't having anything repositionable. So this is my attempt at the technique stretching the cheesecloth creating irregular lines and taping it down with masking tape then brayering with Glimmer Mists and Distress Ink on glossy cardstock. This type of cardstock gave me the most intense background color. I made it into an ATC and added a stamp from Autumn Leaves and an image from Ten Two Studios. Gotta love a challenge that makes you work!!

Art Creations Friday challenge

This is my project for Art Creations Friday . The beautiful image this week needed an elegant background - I used a Green Pepper Press stamp over a background piece of cardstock embossed with Cuttlebug and sanded to stand out more.

Theme Thursday - Glamour Girl

This is my collage for Theme Thursday this week. I thought about glamour girls from Hollywood in the 1930's and 40's and found this image of Betty Grable from Enchanted Mercantile for my image. I added some silvery embossed stamps from Purple Onion, Technique Tuesday, and Oxford Impressions - seemed appropriate for this silver screen glamour girl.

Wednesday Stamper - Altered postcard

This is my project for the Wednesday Stamper Challenge. I scanned the back of a postcard I found at a flea market and added stamps from Oxford Impressions and Autumn Leaves. The swirl is a printed cut out of a digital embellishment from Paperbag Studios that I sprayed with a few colors of Glimmer Mist.

Saturday Workout Challenge - Fossil Stone Technique

This is my collage for Saturday's Workout. For this week, a background was created with the fossil stone technique which was very easy to do - I played around with quite a few colors and really liked this bright, "Spring-y" look using distress inks in marmalade and marigold. Image credit: Digital Collage Sheets; Stamp credits: Stampers Anonymous and Autumn Leaves. The paper I mounted this on is a digital paper from Paperbag Studios, the Shabby Floral papers - a really beautiful collection.

Dans ma maison il y a... le printemps

This is my house for the challenge at Dans ma maison il y a... I wanted to use a new glimmer screen from Tattered Angels - it's such a beautiful bird! Glimmer mists used were Patina and Olive Green and the swirl stamp is from Technique Tuesday. I found a quote that I think is very fitting in my part of the world - almost all my snow is gone, the birds now start singing at dawn, and I have crocuses blooming in the front yard! Welcome Spring!!!!

Art Creations Friday Challenge

Here is my collage for this week's challenge at Art Creations Friday. My stamps are from Mellisa Frances and Stampers Anonymous. Blessed Easter to all!!

Wednesday Stamper - Bella Italia

This is a skinny for Wednesday Stamper's Challenge - Bella Italia. Stamps are from Oxford Impressions Venezia collection and Technique Tuesday's Bijou Borders.

Crazy Amigo's Tim Holtz Challenge

What's not to like about a Tim Holtz themed challenge! This is my entry for the Crazy Amigo Challenge. I have used his paint resist technique combined with a wrinkle free distress background to create this tag (it just had to be a tag!) and added a crackle paint covered grungeboard piece and some of his metal embellishments. The stamps used are from his line through Stampers Anonymous. Thanks to the Crazy Amigos for a very fun challenge!

TGIF Challenge

I have not participated in the TGIF challenge before, but really liked this week's theme of 'Secret Garden'. My idea was to make my collage look like an altered book page with a niche. I liked the image of these stone steps leading up to a area overgrown with trees. My image comes from a collage sheet from Altered Pages and my stamps used are from Stampers Anonymous and Technique Tuesday.

random cards

I needed to make some cards this weekend and it all started with a birthday card for my little brother. I used last week's Art Creations Friday photo (I just had to use him again - I liked him so much!) over a bingo card image from Ten Two Studios. The overall card is a gatefold style and it's held together with cool thin magnets from Basic Grey.

The next one is a variation using an image from Lisa's Altered Art.

The third card is just a thinking of you/Spring theme card. The little birds peeking from the windows of their house with the Cuttlebug embossed metal roof are from Digital Collage Sheets, and the stamps are from Stampers Anonymous and Inka Stamps.
